Winter is here!

It's been pretty cold but it didn't start snowing until two days ago, and hasn't stopped for more then an hour or two. We shoveled our driveway and walkway, and it's so cozy inside! Yuki likes the snow, mostly, unless it's a big pile of snow that's thrown on him, by Kevin, he doesn't like that. He avoided Kevin for about to two hours, I just threw snow back. We're going to try to find a hill (a major feat in North Dakota) to go sledding on next weekend. I met some people that go to the BMX track and use it for sledding. We'll probably check it out and get some super sweet pics. If the weather is nice, I might see how much it is to rent snowmobiles from outdoor rec. I don't think I'll try hooky bobbing this year though, last time resulted in a MAJOR bruise, and luckily nothing else. This week the base is having and "exercise" so Kevin's working twelve hour shifts. We get up at five every morning, and he goes to work from six to six. We'll both be ready to play when the weekend is here. The picture was the first day it snowed, you can't see any grass now. Everything is completely covered. The snow plow went through most the roads so there are big piles of snow on the sides, and everything is super slick, meaning, lots of people fall down, in, out, and around pretty much everything. It's hard not to laugh when people fall down and you feel bad, but then you fall down too and they try not to laugh and feel bad. Other than that, not much is going on. We took the ion in to get the oil changed, then I got a call saying the alignment is off and we neeed a new tire! Ah! Expenses! Kevin handled it better then I did and we took it too the shoppette for a second opinion. There's a mechanic there that we both like and that has helped us before. I called Ben too and he explained the difference in wear and what it would look like if it was a bad tire or alignment issues. The mechanic lifted up the car so we could all look at it, and there were big chunks and random wear marks on the tire like we'd run over a LOT of rocks and nails. It was a faulty tire. He'd actually had a guy come in with a couple of the same bad tires, assurance good year tires, and apparently there was a bad batch out. So we got a new one. We ordered it in from town and it should be in, in about a week. Thank goodness it wasn't alignment. Oh, and we had a date night on Friday, I bought some gingerale, and a Pizza, and rented some movies. I got PS I love you, and Wall-E. We just put the pizza in, and got comfy when the doorbell rang. It was a friend of Kevins who had just called and was told we were busy and weren't going out tonight... He stopped by to drop some stuff off that wasn't allowed at the dorms (dart guns) After that, we told him it was datenight, and he proceeded to tell us about his trip to New York over Thanksgiving, and some trouble he's in on base, and how he feels about his job, and showed us some pictures of the Macy's Day Parade.................. then asked for some pizza................................................................ and a ride back to the dorms................................................. and finally........................................................ we had what was left of the pizza and started our movies. I was grumpy for a little bit, but the movies were good, Wall-E is sooooo cute. I liked it a lot. The only other thing that happened last week is that I got a call from "the base gossip" whom I met a couple months back and talk with occassionally. He called to confirm that I was pregnant. I was offended, and told him no, I am definitely not pregnant, and it's none of his business, and why would he even ask. He said a co-worker had told him I was, a sgt. that I don't even know, or recall meeting. Turns out, I did meet him, and he's a friend of Kevins and when the gossip mentioned me, the sgt. who was apparently being ornery or trying to be funny told him I was pregnant. I was not amused, but glad to know it's not because my belly looks big. It's not baby time yet for me and Kev, but apparently, it is for lots of cousins. Congratulations! Have a good week everyone, and Happy Holidays!

  1. how rude that somebody asked if you were pregnant!!! I don't think that questions is EVER appropriate!! what does kevin do on base? what is he? it's so weird to me that kent is in the air force because right now we don't do anything military related. how do you like base life? maybe one day we'll be on the same base as you guys! and ben too :) are your plans to be there long?

  2. Sorry about the interrupted date night. (is that two r's and one p or two p's and one r??)
Thanks for the long post, it was interesting. Glad your car isn't serious. If it was a batch of bad tires, shouldn't they have a recall or at least a free replacement? We had a little snow this morning, it was beautiful, but all melted now.
