I absolutely L-O-V-E my new town. We're made it here safe and sound. The roads were closed from Grand Forks all the way through part of South Dakota the night before the day we were supposed to leave so that was postponed a little bit til the afternoon when there was a window of opportunity. Though there was a flood, storm, and more storms to come, there was only one detour for about twenty minutes. The flood in fargo was really bad, hope people can return to and repair homes soon. It was fine all the way to Omaha, we arrived just after dark and after having not been around civilization for so long it was a shock to drive with so many cars and on the crazy crazy crazy expressways, lots of off and on, then off and on again and lots of looping. Lucky for us, our GPS was a lifesaver. After I lost my phone we left for Wichita, only to meet more snow on the way through Missouri. It was a pretty bad storm for awhile and we waited out the worst part at a gas station. When we got to Wichita, we went out with some friends who had moved down there a few months earlier. We went to Olive Garden, and then the mall. A REAL, BIG, FUN MALL! Needless to say, I'm pretty excited about everything. From there it was only two and a half hours to OKC. Oh my goodness, there's red dirt, people say y'all, and the weather changes every half hour. No tornados yet. The base is big, the commissary is amazing, and the BX is huge. Just stores, but no tax, yay. Downtown is so cute, it actually reminds me of Boise. Lots to discover, and lots to do. Cowboy museum, well lots of other museums, a zoo, a water park, an amusement park, and water taxis in downtown. I'm anxious to meet my new ward, but the building is really close to our apartment.
I can't wait to come visit you and go exploring!!
ReplyDeletegood to know that that's a good place!! I'd like to have you check out all the cities with bases in them before we get stationed so I can know where NOT to go!
