So it's been awhile. Kevin has been gone just over a month and I have been keeping busy. It's gone by slow and fast at the same time. First, before the fam left for the land of Oz, Kristen and Sawyer came down for a visit. It was fun but went by way to fast! I don't even remember doing much each day but it was over in the blink of eye! I do remember going to Five Guys Burgers and Fries which was delicious and fantastic. Here are some pictures I found, that were from awhile back, but are blogworthy
This is what Kevin does at work... haha jk but the guys sure like to have fun playing pranks on the others. Somehow they rigged one poor airman's computer to reboot everytime he hit the enter key or space bar and a few other irksome things. I'm glad he hasn't done that to me!
Something kept poking my foot as I was walking and was starting to hurt so I looked and looked on my shoe and my foot but couldn't find anything, and then I turned it over and viola! Glad it didn't actually pierce skin, I might have had to get a tet shot.
This was another temporary puppy of ours. He was just to sick and contagious (to Yuki) to keep. But he was so sweet and affectionate. I really hope he's gone to a good home. Someone was the other day was a little upset at me that when I find strays I just take them to the shelter because rumor is that they are pretty quickly put down, but here's my opinion. I would much rather have any animal put down humanely then hit by a car or slowly dying of infection or starvation. Plus, I know every shelter is different but in my experience if the dog is healthy enough to live a good life, and can be returned to health, every effort is made to get each animal adopted. It's important to make sure that dogs and cats are "fixed" to eliminate or reduce the problem of strays and full shelters. The shelters also do a great job of giving the animals affection and play time as well as adequate nutrition and vet care. Many also have tracking numbers so you can look up online to see where your doggie or kitty is and is they've been adopted! I just have a soft spot in my heart for animals, would take them all in, if I could. I'm also a member of ASPCA: The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. From what I've seen they do a good job actually making changes in legislature and work hard in shelters, getting there hands dirty. It's not about animals "rights" or political agendas. They also have an emergency care hotline, and helped me out when Yuki drank ammonia/water. K, hopping off my soap box now.
On a brave day at the nail salon, I decided to try something new! Not really me, I like things simple, but I got a LOT of compliments... and lastly...
Tablerock in Boise, ID. Kara and I hiked tablerock last Monday, and are keeping it a weekly ritual. It's a great hike, but if you're not a hiker it's still worth driving up the backroads to check out the view of the valley. I hope everyone has a great week, and don't wait for tomorrow what you can do today!
