To celebrate Easter I wrote a poem and gave Kevin and Alexander chocolate bunnies that I brought with us. That boy sure loved the chocolate, not so much when I took it away. Yesterday we went to the school, as they requested so we could finish paperwork for our residence cards, sign up for national health insurance, and get phones. All of that was a big bust, the ward office was closed but Kevin was able to fill out paperwork at the school so when he does go to finish the residence cards and do health ins. it should be faster. He is on national health insurance as a student, we're not sure about me and Alexander yet but the consensus seemed to be that we are supposed to be signed up as well. We'll see.
Also, either everyone was out of stock of pre-paid phones, or no one sells them. We're not sure which. So we explored the area instead. I'm thinking it's maybe 1 and 1/2 to 2 mile walk to the school. We walked there and back and I was exhausted at the end! We asked a guide at the school where to get Ramen and she directed us to "Mister Donut" so we go into what looks like this mom and pop shop and BAM! It's a HUGE, and very well packed with products and people, shopping mall. It just extended way back and opened up. We went up to the third level, to the food court for lunch and got some ramen, they also offerd McDonalds among many other things. There were a LOT of people, and a lot of kids running around. Right near where we were eating was Yu-Kids Island which we took plenty of pictures of below.
There were fans blowing balloons around and this was Lex's favorite. He climbed up stairs to get there and Kevin had a hard time getting him to come back out.
For the record, this picture was incredibly difficult to get.
The orb pit was his second favorite. It was a great place to tire him out and let him get a break from riding around in the stroller. Have I mentioned what a blessing the BOB has been? By the time we got back it was about 2:00, we'd left at 9:00. We settled down to take a nap and slept til 6:30. After getting up for dinner we, Alexander and I, went back to bed at 7:00 and slept til almost 6:00.
Oh, I almost forgot, we found a child's store and went in to check it out. They had some adorable little girl clothes and before we leave I'll definitely get something for Ellie. We bought a bag of large lego's so Lex can play with something in the apartment and a box of vegetable crackers that he loved almost as much as chocolate. We've explored all around our area by foot and I'm about ready for public transportation. We're close to a train station and the school gave us some maps in english which I'm super excited about.
Yesterday was a gorgeous, sunny day and today is really overcast. All in all though it's been warm and humid. It's not hot yet but the humidity makes it a little warmer than comfortable when there's no wind. Wish us luck on finding the church. The school printed out a map of where it is located for us, now we just have to figure out how to get there.
Here are some more pictures of what we saw along our walk to the school.
This is a urinal? I'm still having a hard time understanding the doorless bathroom that we saw in the middle of a park. That just seems like a bad idea to me.
If you can't tell the picture above, of the mini toilets, and the sign below go together and are from a plumbing shop. I'm wondering if the mini toilets are complimentary when you use their business.
I didn't notice this one at first, but Kevin wondered aloud when exactly 25:00 is?
There are plenty of signs in English around here but a lot of them come off a little odd. It says So many people, so many beauties, we hope you become more beautiful at Flat. This sign isn't too bad but we forgot to take a picture of a candy Kevin found at 7eleven, which are everywhere by the way. The candy was bits of a crunch bar, and the name was Crunky. OK, that's it for now.
