October Update

The leaves are almost all on the ground, and waiting to be raked up. My four prong dryer won't plug in to our three prong outlet and it's against electric rules to change the dryer cord, and against housing regs to change the wall outlet, and my oven mysteriously stopped working. Oh the woes of being an adult. However, a base mechanic came over to fix the oven today and it's good to go, and though I was told by dispatch that they don't do dryers and outlets, my oven mechanic said he would talk to the electrician himself and see if he could get him over Monday ....and tomorrow Kevin and I are going to rake up all our lovely crunchy leaves. I made pumpkin cookies, and my visiting teachers came over today. They are both nice and pretty young. Both of their husbands are deployed right now. I'm waiting to start my job and going to the gym when I have spare time, which is pretty much everyday, but thats the habit I was trying to get into anyway. We payed off Kevins student loan. Woot Woot! One debt down! We are attacking our debt ferociously...and our budget system is working out pretty much flawlessly, we tried a few and decided on the envelope system. We even have a little bit of money to play with. Our house is the party house on the weekends and people come over to play games and chat. We went grocery shopping together Wednesday and then Kevin had a doctors appointment (he strained a back muscle) and then we went to town. We walked around the mall for a bit and looked through GNC and a couple of book stores, and then decided to go check out an Asian market we'd found and bought some Nori, which is seaweed to make our own sushi, and some pokki, cracker sticks dipped in chocolate, and mochi (hanadaifuku) it's like this pastry thingy thats kind of chewy filled with bean curd paste. It's better then it sounds, and hai chu, this super yummy fruit chew covered in yogurt. That's our life this week. Lifes good.

  1. Thanks for the update. Glad the budget system is working out. Remember to save, save, save while you are young.

  2. It's great to know what's up. Steve loves pumpkin cookies. I seem to have tried making them for him, but they never seem to turn out quite right and canned pumpkin is just so scary. I'll have to get the recipe from you and try again.
