School started today and it's going to be a good quarter. I'm taking two generals, and I have just one more after that and I'll be done with the busy work. The generals I'm taking are GEOL 101 and Intro to Theater. I'm also taking Family Studies entry assessment, it's just one credit, and Child Development which sounds like it will be really interesting. Lastly I'm taking Social Psychology for my minor. In case anyone forgot I switched majors from Psych to Family Studies and am now just minoring in Psych.
In other news, we switched to cloth diapers. We lucked into a bunch of barely/never used diapers for cheap because someone changed their mind and have added to it on our own as well. I love it so far. Don't get me wrong, it's gross. Super gross at times, BUT no blowouts, no more buying diapers, no diaper rash, and a happy baby with a fluffy bum. The only problem is that having a child who is already a challenge to dress has gotten even trickier. He's 24 lbs and 29 inches. He's in 12-18 month clothes and if there's no stretch it's too tight on his bum/thighs. Sigh.
Kevin and I managed to work out our schedules so that Lex only needs to be watched by someone else for about an hour on Mondays. Aside from that one of us is always home, and we play pass the baby on campus on M,W,F between when my class ends at 10:50 and his begins at 11:00. It'll be hectic and I am a little nervous about the work load. I am very grateful though to be in school and able to have both of us attending full time. It is costing us more than I would like but it's an investment in our future. Also we're lucky enough to have several grants each, and Kevin's GI bill. We've also been applying for scholarships.
My little baby is no crawling and trying to put everything in his mouth. He LOVES electronics, phone, computer, any wire or cord he can reach. If he sees any of these he makes a beeline for them and is quite upset when anyone redirects him. I'm watching a friend's little girl for her while she goes to class, and I can't believe Alexander was ever that small. Actually, he probably wasn't, he was born pretty big.
Oh, I keep forgetting to mention that Kevin was promoted to Cadet Captain, highest rank anyone can be at the stage of the program that he's in. Also, He is a commander and in charge of training the AS200's, which is the group that he was in last year. It's the group preparing to go to Field Training. It's a great opportunity to learn, grow, and a chance to show his skills and shine. If he can relax, he'll be an amazing leader. I only say that because he's under a lot of pressure this quarter, I know he'll do great.
The clock is ticking down for when we go to Japan, and I'm excited but nervous. I need to stay in school and am hoping I can get into enough online classes to be considered full time, which is Lways a challenge. Also hoping I won't run into any snags taking online classes from CWU in Japan. Then there's the whole language thing... yikes! It's true a lot of Japanese speak English, but I won't be in Tokyo, I'll be in Kyoto which is significantly more old school, on purpose. It's the old capital of Japan.
OK one more thing before I get back to homework. I've been still eating gluten free making even more of a transition to vegan/vegetarian foods and clean eating overall. I've even convinced Kevin on a few delicious vegetarian recipes that meat isn't always requisite for a meal.
All is well here. Things are really, really good and I love the crisp fall smell and feel of the air. It's baking season! XOXO Oh one more thing, My phone is on the verge of unusable, so if I don't answer it's not actually because I'm bad about answering. We will be getting new phones in October.
