It's a rainy day and we're stuck inside so it's the perfect time for blogging.
So, I don't know this dog but his face is the closest depiction I could get of my face since today we have one month left before we're on our way HOME! I'm anxious to get back and get to nesting before the wee little one in my belly pops out. I'm 32 weeks today and feeling great.
The heat makes it difficult to go out but with our lovely AC inside I have no complaints. I was walking in the mornings around the block with Kevin while he ran for awhile but have stopped that since an episode of heat exhaustion. Most people know I'm prone to fainting anyway, but between the heat and the humidity it was just too much. Between the heat and being pregnant I swell up if we spend too much time out and about. So I stay inside mostly and chug water. I have another Dr. appointment this Friday and then probably one or two more before we head home. Before being bound indoors we explored a few other things.
We went to a famous bamboo forest in Arashiyama which is one of my favorite areas in Kyoto. My cover photo on Facebook is from this area. It was really pretty, but very crowded.
Going through photos I realized, I was the one always taking pictures and had very little proof that I'd even been on this trip. I found this one, and I hate it but it'll have to do.
This is proof we went to the Aquarium. It was AMAZING! We saw a dolphin show, sat in the splash zone and Alexander cuddled every time the big, scary, squeeky animals got too close. I didn't get any photos of the dolphins because I was too mesmerized. We also touched a shark, I don't remember if I mentioned that before. The shark was maybe a foot and a half long but it was still pretty cool. It was the best aquarium we've been too, which is out of four. Any place with dolphins AND penguins is tops in my book.
We finally spotted some Geisha so I guess we can go home now. They were in Arashiyama and getting photographed almost as much as the red-headed foreign baby.
No please, no more pictures.
Kevin just loves the slide.
Baby clothes!! I don't remember if I put a picture up of these or not, I got them so long ago but didn't upload pics for awhile. I'm excited to have a girl and finally be able to shop in the baby girls' section. Shopping for boys is a little sad as it's 1/10th the size of the girl section. Boys apparently just aren't as fun to accessorize., though I certainly wouldn't have minded more of a selection.
We've had fun, seen and done a lot and it's been an experience I'll never forget. I like living in a city, it has its perks. I'll miss the rain here. I like when rain means rain and not just a sprinkle or mist. It downpours here. People still ride their scooters though just covered in a plastic bubble or hazmat suit.
Things I'm looking forward to are: driving, making smoothies, cooking ANYTHING with an oven, crockpot, griddle or grill, my bed, familiar options at the grocery store and affordable produce, oh and MEXICAN FOOD!
Things I'll miss: temples and shrines or historical and sacred places around every corner, public transportation, good gyoza, the rain and greenery, epic shopping centers, interesting fashion, and the child play centers.
I know I shouldn't be counting down the days because it's going to make the time drag on, but as it's gotten closer it's actually gone by fairly quickly. I'm just so excited and anxious to"nest" I can barely contain it. America here we come!
