It's been awhile and only part of that is due to procrastination on my end. I also forgot my password which is usually easy enough to remedy except for that after a system reboot my computer only opens some pages in Japanese and while Kevin is at school I have no idea which buttons to push. The last deterrent to my blogging is my lovely little boy.
Alexander is so cute, and so much fun and very busy. I feel the need to re-iterate and emphasize the busy part. Maybe it's that I'm about 32 weeks pregnant now and just slow moving, but this little boy has me on my toes. He loves going out for walks. We've worn the poor lion backpack out to the point that his tail fell off so walks are on hold for now. I can't go out without a "leash" or Kevin because the streets are busy and Alexander bolts. So... we're home bound during the day which means entertainment for this little boy alternates between blocks, coloring, sneaking into the kitchen to open the fridge, breaking eggs, turning on and off the washer regardless of where it is in the cycle, and removing all shoes from the shelves so they lay in front of the door, oh and playing with the patio door or pulling everything off the table and window shelf. Some of these I prefer over others. It doesn't help that everything is just his size. He's loving it.
We've got about 5 weeks left in Kyoto before we head home, and so much to do! We're both overwhelmed. This trip has had some ups and downs and been challenging of late. On a positive note I got two A's, and an A- for spring quarter.
The Japanese do grades VERY differently and Kevin has no idea where he stands so that is sort of stressful. Also, they are not going to excuse the absences for when he has taken me to the Dr. even though I can't do it myself as I don't speak the language, and it's his baby. The financial aid office back in WA has been emailing me that they need some documentation within 30 days, for the past 15 days and has finally responded that they understand I'm out of the country and unable to provide what they need at the moment. I'm not sure how that's going to affect financial aid for the fall quarter. We're also waiting to hear back from our apt. complex, we asked some questions and need the specific address so that Kevin can send in his AFROTC form for his job preferences. AFROTC is breathing down his neck to get the form in but we're waiting on the address. It's also hotter than a sauna and my feet are covered in bug bites. I know some misquitos get in every now and then but I've got about twenty on each lower leg and wake up with more every day. Alexander also has three on his face and a few on his arms. So that's all the bad and ugly going on.
As for the good, I feel great and everyone is healthy. Alexander is not talking but communicating more each day and it's so fun to watch him pick things up or imitate us as he learns. He's recently started blowing on his own food because he watches us do that before we give him a bite. Kevin and I went to the major shopping district of Kawaramachi. There was karaoke everywhere so we went and got a room, ordered some snacks and sang away for about an hour. Alexander joined in. Barbie Girl was the first song we found in English.
We went to the Aquarium and saw dolphins! I'd never seen dolphins that close before. It was so cool! The aquarium also had penguins. We've been out a lot, taken a lot of pictures, and there are things here that I'll miss. I was hoping to write more but I'll have to wait until later since someone woke up from their nap and it's go time.
We're safe and sound, tired and hot, and I'll be honest counting the days til we come home.

Sounds mostly fun except for the bug bites.
