I'm feeling somewhat euphoric sitting on the couch, while the dogs snoozes, and Kevin plays Metroid. Metroid is a video game, with Samus that we borrowed from the Library today. Not sure if that means anything to anyone, but after playing Super Smash Bros I actually know who Samus is. I haven't blogged in a long time, and I aim to change that. So much has happened since the last time I posted, and to even think about catching up is exhausting so our amazing adventures don't get nearly as much attention and detail as they deserve or would have gotten had I posted right away. Sad. So, this is the update. My husband is home! He is more muscular than he was when he left, not complaining, but I actually almost walked right by him when I went to pick him up.
Seeing him again, made me feel like we were dating all over again. Being within feet and able to actually touch him was somewhat unnerving after having Skyped for months. We were awkward and nervous, but it was still a very happy reunion. Yuki was happy to have him home as well. There was definitely some adjusting to home life after having been in the desert. He had some mood swings for awhile, and felt like everything had changed since he'd left. It had. We were living in a totally new place. Which is also quite a story. I think he did really well post deployment and was motivated to keep busy and keep the new habits that he formed and liked. He was definitely more involved in the running of the house. He also came home loving football which was very strange, but again, no complaints. They played a lot of madden over there.
We FINALLY had our honeymoon!!! We went to San Francisco, CA. We stayed in a cute historic building about a block down from the Hilton which is where Matt, Kristen, and Sawyer stayed when they came into town. I'm hoping tomorrow I can dedicate a whole blog to SF and upload pictures as well, so I won't go into too much detail now.
Before Kevin came home, Kara and I drove the looooooooong drive back to OKC. I bought a Honda CRV while in Boise to be able to sell the Ion and get out from under it, but it wasnt selling. So Kara, the best friend I could ask for, drove it back for me. Once it got here, it sold right away. So we played caravan and drove alone in each car, luckily she made some CDs that I rocked out to, and we chatted on the phone. When we got here, I tried to show her the city, and I think for the most part she really liked it. It is kind of a culture shock, though. She also helped me sort out the great apartment crisis of 2010. Scheduled to move into an apt. the next day we went to check it out and were greated by, the most unprofessional, office staff I have every met. They talked down to us, and it wasn't a great experience. They had said there was a weight limit for the dog, which I fully intended to comply with. At Yuki's last vet visit he was 19 lbs and a few oz. The weight limit was 20 lbs. The office staff told me they do random weight testing and if he is ever above the limit, we have to leave.
I weighed him that day and he was 8 oz over. So.... I lost my security deposit, a couple hundred dollars we really couldnt spare and had nowhere to move into.... tomorrow. Kara and I spent her last day here going from apt. to apt. looking for anything that had something open.... immediately, and was dog friendly. We found a place that was twice what Kevin and I were hoping to pay. It was the only thing available in the area for at least a month. So Kevin and I are living in a two bedroom, with one very empty room. The Staff though was so sweet, and accommodating. I send them a Thank You note, and the extra money hasn't been too much of a strain. It just means pinching more pennies to save up for our soon separation from the military.
Sorry, to Kara for my bad behavior. I got a little short tempered with some of the apartments staff, and I couldn't have gotten through it without her. She really is the best. Patient and resourceful, and helped me call all the different places, while assuring me, it'd all work out. Even if there was no way of knowing that for sure, it was good to hear.
Soon after I moved into the place, Kara went home and I moved all our stuff out of storage. Luckily it hadn't been damaged by the floods or the heat over the summer! I had movers help me get all of it to the apartment. I had pretty much everything moved in and unpacked by the time Kevin got home. In about a month and a half we'll pack it all up again. I'm getting really good at moving. It doesn't get any less stressful or scary though. Just the fear of the unknown and all that. We are both a little terrified to leave behind the source of our income, take a risk, and hope to get back into the military. I know Kevin can do it, it's just a lot of pressure.
Being and old boring couple, we usually get tired and head to bed around 7:30, no joke. I'm typically out by 8:00. We do get up at 4:30 every morning to go run before Kevin gets ready for work. He's switching shifts from days to swings, meaning his work hours went from 6:15-2:15 to 2:15-10:15. I'm not working, I've had a really difficult time finding work. Kevin's thrilled about the shift though, he loves swings and since I have no schedule to conflict with his, it all works out. The point of all of that was, It's later than I'm usually up, and as you can tell I'm scattered and rambling, apologies.
Today was a really fantastic day though, we made delish french toast this morning, went to the track and played football for awhile the field was a little wet and we both got a little muddy. It was a lot of fun though. It was mid 60's today which was lower than what it was the rest of the week, but still a really nice day.
I'm missing my family, and am happy things are going well for them. We are all moving the same week. Talk about crazy! Bryson-Rexburg,ID, Me+Kev-Ellensburg, WA, Kris10+Matt-Boise, ID, Ben+Chantal, Somewhere, UT. I'm not quite sure on the city Ben and Chantal are moving to, but I am so excited for everybody! We are all entering new phases of our lives, here's to hoping it's the best so far and leads to even better things! Good Night. XOXO
I fixed it. WOOT WOOT!
